What is arm lift surgery (brachioplasty)?

A brachioplasty, also called an arm lift, is a surgical procedure used to improve the appearance of the upper arms by excising excess skin and fat. This procedure is commonly performed on people who have lost a significant amount of weight and have loose, sagging skin on their arms.With an arm lift, incisions are performed on the underside of the arm, usually from the armpit to the elbow, to remove excess skin and fat. The remaining skin appears smoother and more toned after being drawn taut and sewn together.

How is performed arm lift surgery?

Depending on the surgeon's experience, the arm lift process may consist of multiple stages;

General anaesthesia is administered to the patient in order to ensure their sedation and painlessness during the procedure.

Typically, the surgeon makes an incision down the inside of the arm from the elbow to the armpit. The length of the incision will vary according on how much fat and skin needs to be removed.

The upper arm's excess skin and fat are removed by the surgeon. Sometimes liposuction can be used to remove excess fat.
