Liposuction operation
Liposuction is the process of breaking down the regional fats in the body with the help of thin cannulas and taking them out. Liposuction is essentially a body shaping method, not a slimming method. It is a very effective technique in removing resistant regional lubrication that cannot be eliminated by diet and sports.
People who have regional lubrication that cannot be removed with sports and diet are candidates for liposuction. Good skin elasticity is an advantage in terms of better liposuction results. In cases where skin elasticity is not sufficient and there is sagging and looseness in the skin, other surgical procedures may be required in combination with liposuction.
As in all surgeries, it is recommended that smokers stop smoking at least 2 weeks before liposuction (fat removal) surgery. The patient should inform the physician about the drugs he is using. In particular, blood thinners may need to be discontinued or rearranged before surgery. Similarly, if birth control drugs are used, the physician should be informed about this as well. First of all, special solutions are injected into the adipose tissue in order to make the adipose tissue more easily degradable, to reduce bleeding and to prevent post-operative pain. By making incisions of 2-4 millimeters near the area where the fat will be taken, the fat tissue is broken up with special cannulas and taken out with the help of vacuum. Various different techniques can be used in this fat breakdown process. In classical liposuction, only the physical fat is broken down.
In laser liposuction, while the fat is heated and broken down by laser energy, in ultrasonic liposuction, the fat-breaking effect of ultrasound energy is utilized. In laser or ultrasonic liposuction, fat breakdown is done in a separate step. After this process, the shredded and melted fat is taken out with the help of vacuum. The cannula entrances are sometimes closed by suturing, and sometimes they are left open to prevent fluid accumulation inside to provide drainage. Before the patient is awakened, the operation is terminated by wearing a corset on the operating table.
